About

Whether you live, work, or feel at home in Sagadahoc County, you’re invited to tell us a story about how the COVID-19 epidemic is affecting you and your community. As librarians, we know the power of storytelling, not just for the storyteller but also for the listener. Our patrons value the sense of community we share, and we want to continue to support our wonderful library community by collecting and sharing their stories during this challenging and ever-changing time. We chose to call this project “How’s Your Week Going?” because we’re all taking it a week at a time. We can’t predict how long we’ll be affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, so we want you to know that you can keep sending us stories for as long as this project continues.

Archiving Your COVID-19 Stories

The Sagadahoc History & Genealogy Room will create an archive of COVID-19 stories, images, and other records at Patten Free Library. Stories from the community will be a valuable part of the COVID-19 archive. Submissions by Morse High School Class of 2020 students to the To Sail Once Again creative contest will also be included in the COVID-19 archive. The History Room will preserve these stories for future generations of historians, genealogists, and library patrons who want to understand how local people experienced this historic moment. Your story will be accessible to the public in the History Room as soon as the library reopens. We may also share your story with our community through newsletters, exhibits, podcasts, and social media. For your privacy, you’ll have the option of keeping your story closed to the public for 75 years.
