Covid Chaos
By B A Wellman
upside down the world has turned, bad's now good, truths dumped into a trash bin
Old folks now sneaking out of the house, and their kids are all begging to stay in
think it’s bad now? just wait 15 years when our country will run by the home-schooled
taught by day trippers and Dads out of work, unqualified teaching the misruled
2 students suspended for fighting in class, and teacher let go for her drinking
blind leading blind, bravely forward downhill, is a plan my school-board is thinking
kids out for play both called in a bomb threat, must keep them away from my cell phone
Too bad it won't work, my caller ID tells me the call was made by my well known
kids cry around as they're finding out, their teacher is the same one for next year
the year after that and the year after that, can work up a good student's worst fear
covid has done what no woman can do, keep men home, stop all sports and close bars
Today seems no different from yesterday's fear is covid much different from SARS?
Better 6 feet apart than 6 feet under, advice taken can soon go astray
The past is the past but it's really no different Than what they're supposing today
Washed my hand clean just so many times, when I did not even soil it
So much soap in my system that now, when I pee, it cleans out the bowl of my toilet!
Last year my shrink told me stay away from folks negative, that was yesterday's news
Today we avoid the positive ones, making all of the changes confused
Oh! Joy! It is Wednesday, time to take out the trash, wondering what I shall wear
Making it fun for the neighborhood gossip and what should I do with my hair?
It's National Home-school Tornado Drill time. lock your kids in the basement in fear
The easiest part of your day will go by, until they give the "all Clear"
so bored I called State Farm last evening, just to ask the guy what he's wearing?
Finding excitement from day to day tasks, comes slow like smoking fish to red herring
Day twelve of this trauma the dog looks at me, as if saying that's why i chew shoes
Can't social distance away from my fridge, or the TV that's spewing bad news
we can’t eat out, now’s the perfect time, eat better, get fit, and stay healthy
Order food out and pay for delivery, if your living white and are wealthy
Some will come out as fabulous cooks, others with new drinking habits
The strong will exit much stronger my friend, others hold up in bedroom like rabbits!
My birthday is Friday don't know where I'll go, but have choices I'm sure will enrich-en
So many places, must make up my mind, will I go to the hallway or kitchen?
Spinning my TP like a wheel of fortune, but there's no more to buy for replacement
Oh what do we do now that paper is gone and we can't walk with spouses adjacent?
breakfast each morning now my jeans no more fit, pj's only from this point on forward
Caution is fickle can be true of false, As we swim to find truth bravely shore-ward
Changing my clocks to spring going forward, don't think, if you think, you're alone
when we changed the clocks we'd go from time standard, to Time in the Twilight Zone
a neighbor is telling her problems to cat, It was clear she thought understood her.
My doggie and I both laughed when we heard this, as if a cat and a human can concur
yes! Quarantine has turned us all into dogs, roaming about until we find food
Told "no" when we get too close to strangers, but afternoon naps change the mood
And when it's all over do we join weight watchers or A.A. Meetings in cloisters
Perhaps mental health will help us at last to find safety as good as closed oysters
Does anyone know if permission was granted for me to take a warm shower
Or just keep washing my hands to the bone, in sink all day long I do scour
Classified ads now say single man, with tp looking now for connection
Seeking a mate with sanitizing wipes, good clean fun to help with dejection
He claims only touch with a 6 foot pole, who'd of thought that to be the new come on
seeking protection from his lovers touch, rubber gloves too are needed to get gone
My favorite out eats is my kitchen of course, bring ingredients, cook your own order
The pile of soup-cans in the pantry tell all, I'm not a chief but a hoarder
Each time i approach, my fridge tells the tale, asking what miracle i next can perform
Defrosting a meal or yesterday's left-overs, microwave can bring cold to warm
TRICKY TIMES, TRICKY LESSONS use caution.. WE MUST ALL LEARN to pivot
THAT'S HOW THEY LEARNED, PERFUME sweet, IS BUT MUSK FROM some dirty old CIVET
Alexa soon tells me the weather is fine, for just doing your all about nothing
Good day to seek friends for better or worse, but better turns out to be bluffing
Our potus infected tells modern day lies, how does lying make america great?
So follow directions but not from the top, cause our government news is all fake
Take care of yourself, the old and the young, just do the best that you are able
Tomorrow's news comes, it's all upside down, good advice has just turned the table
Take mind of the truth and turn off the news, G.o.p. lies have proved to be treason!
Carona invited by our watchful chief.......
proving all his fake lies have fake reasons!

Wine on Line
ðŸ·
… March 20, 2020 – June 26, 2020
by Joanne Marco
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #1 ðŸ·
Since Friday night we can not gather
Let’s drink our wine all together!
In keeping with pandemic rules
(though it gives us Friday blues)
Raise your glass at six o’nine
Have a drink of some great wine.
All friends and neighbors give a toast
To warm the souls we love the most.
Nibble on some cheese and crackers
Chips and dip and other snackers.
.
We’ll miss the lively chitter chatter
With friends however, it doesn’t matter.
Our love goes out to you each day
With thoughts and laughter along the way.
Let’s meet again on line next week
Your company we always seek!
********************
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #2 ðŸ·
Another week has passed us by
Since last we spoke a cheerful Hi!
Tomorrow eve my glass will rise
Although I will not see your eyes,
Gather your snack, your drink or wine
To toast again at 6:09!
To keep us anxious for the night
Send your comments for delight.
A photo of your toast would thrill
And certainly would fill the bill
Of keeping safety in our game
Social distance it’s formal name!
*************************
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #3 ðŸ·
Long days
many ways
keeping distance
our insistence.
Friends missing
lovers kissing
daylight sinking
glasses clinking.
Friday drinkers
crafty thinkers
neighbors walking
people talking.
Missing you
evening blue
toast high
kiss goodbye.
*************
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #4 ðŸ·
We may not see you
We will be home
We may not hear you
We will be alone
We may not feed you
We will eat for two
We may not hug you
We will just make do
We may not be with you, our friends
We will miss you, miss you to the end!!
***************************
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #5 ðŸ·
Surprise has come our way with snow
I did not forget our wine, although
A little late with out much rhyme
I’ll ready up a glass of wine!
******************
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #6 ðŸ·
Bumblebees hummed incessantly among the trout lilies –
forget-me-nots – – and yellow dandelions – –
sparkling crystal dragonflies seemed suspended
in the still air – – – butterflies had left their cocoons
and were slowly fanning their colored wings – – – –
– – – the day the leaves came out . . . .
Not one by one – – – – but – spontaneously they
seemed to break their casings – – – – and tiny leaves
completely formed hung from all the branches – – – –
– – – – and soon
the woods stood shimmering – – – – a delicate fantasy
– – – – the wind was still
– – – – – the air was warm
a great phenomenon of life took place
– – – the day the leaves came out . . . . .
~ Gwen Frostic (exerpts from her poem)

ðŸ·
Wine on Line#7 ðŸ·
To you my friends I bring this toast
with warmth and cheer it’s you I roast.
For years of friendships old and new
relationships that see us through
joyous times and days of trouble
happy thoughts and ones that struggle.
Raise your glass and drink the wine
Tomorrow brings us more sunshine
*************************
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #8 ðŸ·
Here’s to you on this eve
A toast of red, red wine.
Friendships never to deceive
Regardless of the time.
****************
“Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience; this is the ideal
life…..Mark Twain
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #9 ðŸ·
A Friday comes for friends to dine
Instead, a lonely glass of wine.
A gaze around, a wish of cheer
And maybe raise a glass of beer!
I’ll toast you on this ninth such night
While watching Osprey taking flight.
**************************
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #10 ðŸ·
Hello
she said with a sigh.
A glance of the eye
and wondering why.
The night drawing nigh
bright pink in the sky.
Red wine on the sly
with friends to rely.
***************
ðŸ·
Wine on Line#11 ðŸ·
Wind blowing strong
Days seeming long
Crisp morning air
Color everywhere
Trees showing green
Sun being seen
Birds in the sky
People walking by
Greeting with a wave
Smiling as the save
Friend seeking friend
Means to an end.
Another week, another day
They’ve come and gone along the way.
A smile, a wave, a distant chat
A day without my winter hat!
The pansies nod their little heads
While adding color to their beds.
***********************
Here’s to you and here’s to me
Another Friday night we’ll see
A glass of wine, a chug of beer
To all of you both far and near!
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #12 ðŸ·
blue sky
changing hue
wonder why
missing you
heave, sigh
muddle through
wander by
feeling blue.
see you soon
sit outside
maybe noon
go for ride
yellow moon
eyes are wide
old raccoon
run inside!
six o’nine
toasting time
yours and mine
glass of wine
off the vine
food to dine
sun will shine
feeling fine.
*********
It is not 6:09
But I want my wine
So an early toast
Will please the most!
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #13 ðŸ·
The twelfth of the month
of the thirteenth week
my friends and neighbors
who’s company I seek
fill my heart with joy
as I wish to repeat
the fun and the laughter
both loud and meek.
The days get quite weary
somewhat of a bore.
The cleaning and shopping
I simply abhor!
So sitting alone
on the patio bench
is only exciting
when you visit this wench!
The chairs are aligned
for appropriate distance
masks in hand
without any persistence.
Seats are for six
so need your assistance
when sun is delightful
come cheer our existence!
******************
Another week, another day
They’ve come and gone along the way.
A smile, a wave, a distant chat
A day without my winter hat!
The pansies nod their little heads
While adding color to their beds.
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #14 ðŸ·
Between the dark and the morning
As the moon shines down its bright light
Comes the time I think of the friendships
That gathered each Friday night.
The voices erupt from the garden
Where laughter and chatter abound
While neighbor and friend mix and mingle
And there’s happiness always around.
A sudden change in our country
A sudden distance to hold
The circumstances have altered
We can not all be so bold.
Our thoughts will still be about you
And happiness sits at the bend
To gather again with the friendships
That we know will not ever end.
*********************
ðŸ·
Wine on Line #15 ðŸ·
Twenty- six June of twenty twenty
life takes a turn, a shift of mind,
as pandemic weeks are at a plenty
we search our souls, our hearts stay kind.
The days have time for many things.
To read and build, to sit and ponder,
as nature brings the songs it sings,
the mind seems set to search and wonder.
A hearty laugh brings out a smile
from friends that stop to fill a chair
upon their daily walk a mile
we chuckle over unkempt hair.

Another week, another day They’ve come and gone along the way. A smile, a wave, a distant chat A day without my winter hat! The pansies nod their little heads While adding color to their beds.
🷠Wine on Line #14🷠Between the dark and the morning As the moon shines down its bright light Comes the time I think of the friendships That gathered each Friday night.
The voices erupt from the garden Where laughter and chatter abound While neighbor and friend mix and mingle And there’s happiness always around.
A sudden change in our country A sudden distance to hold The circumstances have altered We can not all be so bold.
Our thoughts will still be about you And happiness sits at the bend To gather again with the friendships That we know will not ever end. *********************
🷠Wine on Line #15🷠Twenty- six June of twenty twenty life takes a turn, a shift of mind, as pandemic weeks are at a plenty we search our souls, our hearts stay kind.
The days have time for many things. To read and build, to sit and ponder, as nature brings the songs it sings, the mind seems set to search and wonder.
A hearty laugh brings out a smile from friends that stop to fill a chair upon their daily walk a mile we chuckle over unkempt hair. ********************

The Propagator
By B A Wellman
May 2012
~Spring~
Dwell happy as a garden wet that's soon to have more rain
Spring wakes the sleeping seeds to swell, soon stems and leaves to gain
How could the microscopic seed evolve to be so flawless?
To give us fruit or figs or flowers or grow to be enormous
Tulips poke up thru the snow, too fast they go past open
Cold for daffodils is fine. They have a way of copin'
Tiny violets growing buds with purple color blazing
Salomon seal does nod it's glory, truly is amazing
.
Narcissus, Crocus, all go by, before most others started
Bleeding heart bleeds for the souls whose true love has departed
What tells the buds about to be, the color they should show
Who taught the roots to look for water and direction they should grow
A good escape for you and me to shrink your problems towering
What bliss to bask neath Cherry Tree right at the time of flowering
Apple Blossom pink and white, open delicate at dawn
Soon Dandy Lion's yellow gleam will polka dot the lawn
Then the Lilac's sweet perf-ume prevails on through the month of June
While underneath the warm full moon the Foxglove spikes begin to bloom
~Summer
~
Creeping Thyme and Creeping Phlox smell too the Creeping Myrtle
Been waiting on them long since May, But cold gave them a hurtle
in June the Iris show their blossom telling true their story
They compliment wisteria and too the Morning Glory
Flowers on Delphinium stems the Bumble Bees all top her
Ivy running up the walls, don't even try to stop her
Pachysandra roams out from back creeping forward past it's boundary
Marigold's accent border edge, so perfect and so roundly
Bluebells blue, and Roses pink, now purple hybrids too
Trumpets on the vine spill secrets Larkspur always knew
The colors equal in this world make color man made dull
Nasturtium growing up in vine twixt June and July's null
The Summer sun brings color riot bobbing pretty posy heads
Color blended fireworks pop in my garden beds
Zenia's all color palette pops with red Day Lilly
Shasta's flutter, gentle breeze, with Cosmos tall and frilly
The butterfly, she likes the weeds, They land upon old Joe Pye
The humming birds hum Monarda fields, here second, whoops, gone good bye
Tiger Lillie's late in summer, orange curl amazing!
A little sad the Poppy's gone, they've finished out their phasing
Honey bees all move the pollen, while visiting with the flowers
I used to see a bunch a minute... now the wait for same takes hours!
(Thank You Round Up)
Clematis glory shows her palette, to pretty up July
When August turns September, well, you'd think the end was neigh
~Fall~
Coral Belles with leaves of Crimson now that fall is falling
Tall grasses dry begin to rustle, it's autumn they are calling
Wind sock Lilly's, synchronize, tandem in October's breeze
Dahlia's tower over head, dig up before first freeze
Once Hollyhocks did pierce the sky, their majesty perfection
Now gone to seed because they know, soon frost will bring subjection
Ironic, busy time for growers is after all has grown!
It's time to put your beds to bed and ponder what you've sown
Compost and cover clip and trim, your busy as a Squirrel
You want to hurry up next spring, but exercise deferral
Colored leaves are drifting by your doorway in the morning
drink in the beauty, frost tonight could settle with no warning
Chrysanthemum and golden rod, now glorify miss Astor
autumn turns to frost she'll rest the first snow soon will Blast her
But Indian Summer comes around and tricks your mind complacent
Do not be fooled this time of year as snow can be inpatient
~Winter~
At Last! deep snow upon the ground, Gardeners singing "Auld lang syne"
You'd think they take a break, but no.... it's time to feed Jack Pine
Cut back the roses, compost all, it's Winter Berry season
Plants on holiday through winter, with that one can not reason
November's chill leaves a few strong mums, A stray of Montok Daisies
Giving thanks to those who penned this lazy work for lazys
Christmas pine-cones, Hemlock bows, Bring solace past the solstice
Want flowers now? Must buy from store........treasons what we Call this!
Then New Year's catalogs, implore ,buy seeds, buy roots, buy saplings
Remind us wait a few more months, with winter we're still grappling
February window sills soon team with springs collection
March finds the seedsman on their laurels praising new selection
As April marches may along, it's deja vu all over
your troubles soon will fly away you'll be rolling in the clover
That brings us back to Spring again
so start this poem all over!
~The (Seasonal) End/beginning "turn turn turn"~

Painted Lady
by B A Wellman
March 2017
Mine's a proud ROCK~OLA, orange and blue, but brand here doesn’t matter
Push the buttons, Patti Page sings "Cape Cod" from spinning platter
Her body looks born yesterday but long now long out of fashion
She plays 200 songs all picked by me with thoughtful passion.
I command her with a button and and a wall box in the kitchen
At 61 shes sounding great the bubble dome is bitchin’
Once spanking new she sits today, seeming like her time has past
As long as we have music, I am sure this box will last
She sings when I ask her, lights up colored hue
3 plays for a quarter she’ll sing sweet for you.
The spinning disk drops, playing boogie beat sounds
Country, Jazz or Disco, hear the bass drum pound
Some Jukes have those bubble lights, we saw as a child
A coin drops, tone arm swings, the damned thing goes wild
Once she sang for drunks and whores, perhaps a sailor seeking action
While people danced and ate and kissed to her flashing lights reaction
She worked so hard most every day, the Holidays included
If you thought her coin brought extra favors, clearly your deluded
The bar keep has a button, it rejects what's not in favor
Drop a coin, to play more tunes, cash loyalty never waver
A style that spreads like mayo and a set of knob’s a honkin
Once godess then, but now well used, for mostly honky tonkin
Playing old vinyl 45's makes your mind go back to then
Heartbreak's passion, fools and clowns the way it's always been
Poor or wealthy, still she prods, remembering what you came to forget
She charges a fee, makes it all go away then she'll spin all around in regret
She takes your money, tucks it away, like a fast pitch only faster
She doesn’t keep it for herself, it goes home to her master
Perhaps she’s bipolar, one minuite she whispers those tired cliques about love
Just wait a bit she is wailing her heart out and asking for help from above
She sat for years in a candy store down in the Le-hi valley
Once she broke the owner ordered "dump her in the ally"
She has that magic-patron-trance, appealing public looks
Much more fascinating than just sitting reading books
Made an offer to her owner since, I heard those Juke gears whirl
She went from trash to car-rack,.home to become an honest girl
~Not The End~

Covid 19
By B A Wellman
March 21, 2020
Things aren't going very well for our country and our leaders
The rich go on without a care not true of bottom feeders
As if we needed more upset than our troubled plate could take
Fate stepped in and proved to us, not all the news was fake
Covid virus running wild, in Italy and China
Just the mention of that word, now gives a soul angina
Our Government to busy stealing, lying to the people
Not bright enough to realize, that China was our prequel
Don't warn the public sell your stocks, cash in on peoples sorrow
Elite was told, make moves today, we'll tell the poor tomorrow
Let's have the rural, city, towns, fend for themselves.. good luck
Our leaders attitude's soon prove, they planned to pass the buck
They say they're very smart and no one cares more for the masses
But all the benefits for us, go to upper social classes
No word from federal government, too busy doing nothing
The Senate on vacation says, why don't we keep on bluffing
It's now hit us, no lessons learned cause no one paid attention
Besides, who cares, all plaque can do is kill and bring on tension
Shelter in place if you are poor, so to for middle classes
Good luck to you, now here's a crumb go try to save your asses
Test kits coming, people dying their promises un kept
Advice on how to save our souls, was under life's rug swept
No drug to treat us and no hope, is what the Senate offers
Those bullies, tardholes, fools and clowns are just a bunch of scoffers
No masks for doctors, gloves for nurse, so here's a penny for your purse
You can not spend it, even worse, we'll now pay cash to call a hearse
Toilet paper gone from shelves, no beans, no wipes, no meat
I doubt the big boy ponders that, upon gold toilet seat
Rich restrooms in the nation stocked, with all that they will want
They horde supply while we have none, you think they've made a point?
The Senate gives no aid to us, thank your local city hall
They bring us facts, they give us hope with Federal in a stall
Flatten curves they tell us, but what's flattened is our belly
Closed now are the shops and stores, the Dairy Queen & deli
Social distance sounds like fun, if unhappy with your neighbor
With loved ones it's a painful notion, most of us don't savor
The ICU we can not visit, so the dying die alone
Still Washington is happy leaving, all the living prone
As the food chain stops, and they close the shops
Out of business goes the Moms and Pops
None left for them, none left for us, DC knows but won't discuss
Mitch and buddies will not fuss, makes you want to scream and cuss
We know not where Covid will leave us, but Senate, take a guess
If the job was done we hired for, we'd not be in the mess
What's behind door # 3 who cares? You're better chancing
Nothing is much better than our POTUS is romancing
And if this does not kill us all, will we have learned our lesson?
Let's call elected to the mat and make them start confessin'
Hear me true and hear me strong, this carnage could go on for long
Won't go away with just a song, you can't hide stupid with a thong!
In voting booth we change-or not, these leaders useless on the spot
Your vote's the weapon that you've got, help change begets into begot
If your still alive on voting day don't waste that vote nor throw away
Vote out the deadbeats where they lay, let's make it safe for straight and gay
Transgenders and the in betweens the Foreign students with their dreams
No one's safe from this loser team, United States ripped at it's seams
Covid should not turn our heads, nor should the lies our leaders said
If we don't die tonight in bed, please go to vote out talking heads
It's only started yes, that's true, let's wait and watch them nothing do
A challenge, yes, for me and you...
remember love will us get thru
~The End~ (perhaps, with new leadership)

Trying Times
by B A Wellman March 26, 2020
When you can't find the forest because of the trees
If you can't find your God when your down on your knees
Hope, faith and charity never charge fees
Yourself is the one you should work hard to please
Sometimes a heart needs to break out and cry
Why exists in our culture such a threatening divide?
Makes us, one by one, want to run off and hide
We need all hands on deck, advice please abide
Love can't exist, if we don't all chip in
Together we're strong and together we win
So together we're all gonna toughen our skin
Together, resilient like the man made of tin
Just like that man, please don't let your parts rust
Keeping oil can handy, right now, is a must
Take care of yourself while our nation is trussed
Assisting the sick, old and young now a must
Toss out all your bias, become color blind
More than one nations snared up in this bind
Eliminate fear and you too might find
The shocking truth of just what comes from "kind"
Some of us bend and that helps us to thrive
But some of us break, when our leaders connive
Your neighbor is hungry so don't food deprive
Hording it all won't help, helpless survive
If just one person wins, then the rest of us lose
Take command now, while our leaders all snooze
Don't burn your brain out obsessing on news
Happy winners all will win, sorry losers all lose
Love's never wrong just like hate's never right
If you have a soft pillow think on it tonight
Some sleep in doorways, others give up the fight
Don't reduce have and have nots to just black and white
Hard times seem like "you" and "them", remember don't divide
Multiply your happiness, out on your rainbow ride
Add time to smell the roses, sweet, and please don't take a side
Subtract the Tempest in the room, humanity will thrive
Danger breeds in whispered lies, so speak up loud and clear
There's never been a better time to conquer ethnic fear
Love your fellow man as well, then hold your loved ones near
Buck up cowboy.... tow line, this path was never clear!
Hatred only breeds the worst, love always breeds the best
Don't gossip, just tell facts my friend, when hope is put to test
Keep faith alive, you just might do, much better than the rest
Resilient attitude you need, to feather your own nest
Are we too blind the light to see?
Luck living in the land of free
Life gave each soul no gaurentee
Singing words of wisdom..... Let It Be
Even kids know right from wrong
So take my cue and play along
Blow some bubbles, sing your song
Make happy times your mind belong
Don't heed advice where lies do lurk
Comes words of warning with this work
Truth is truth, truth never jerks
It's time to cash in all our perks
We'll get thru this, and with our peers
Give help you can and share fate's tears
Hold on tight till a better time nears
If you've better advice...
then I'm all ears!
